Award Win at the Cleanroom Technology Conference 2018

We were delighted to pick up the award for Best Cleanroom Facility at the Cleanroom Technology Conference 2018, for the 990m² ISO class 8 cleanroom facility at Convatec.

The judges chose the Convatec medical technology cleanroom as the winning entry, “because of the company’s comprehensive project presentation, which was not only broad in scope but also showed careful consideration of aesthetics, energy efficiency and sustainability, while meeting budget and timeline constraints, and making good use of the latest build technology and method.”

So, what makes this particular cleanroom so special, and why we are so especially proud of it?

Firstly, it’s not just aesthetically pleasing. As well as the beautiful panels and lines and motion-activated bright lighting, the room boasts industry-leading technology. With multiple layers of redundancy to ensure that any maintenance doesn’t disrupt the manufacturing process and continual environmental monitoring, this room is a technical feat.

Kingspan UltraTech Precision cleanroom panels, with an ECOsafe PIR core, were used to create a fully flush finish – suitable for the stringently regulated environment. Read the case study.

Secondly, it needed to align within the client’s current facility, a huge and technically challenging space that was not originally designed with a cleanroom in mind. We utilised building information modelling techniques to create a seamless interface. Read more about how we applied BIM technology.

Thirdly, it’s huge. To put 990m² into some sort of context, you could park 25 double decker buses in there. Find out more information on the sheer scope of this cleanroom.
