Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR)
The Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR, Regulation (EU) 528/2012) concerns the placing on the market and use of biocidal products, which are used to protect humans, animals, materials or articles against harmful organisms like pests or bacteria, by the action of the active substances contained in the biocidal product. The BPR offers a harmonised and more centralised authorisation and approval process for biocidal products at a European level.
The BPR is forcing all biocide manufacturers who want to sell their products in the European Union, to review their current portfolio and invest considerable resources to make it sustainable in the long-term.
Ecolab has taken the opportunity that the BPR process has provided, to review the Klercide and Klerwipe biocidal portfolio with a view to ensuring the products meet and exceed the future requirements of its customers. Ecolab has invested to ensure that the confirmed Klercide and Klerwipe portfolio, which is being supported through the BPR process, is registered and compliant in the appropriate class, and has consideration of the current and predicted future market trends within the life sciences industry.
